• The competition is open to all currently enrolled Virginia Tech undergraduate students.
  • The poem must be about, or speak to, the future.
  • One entry per person, please.
  • Written offerings should be typed, in English, with a maximum length of two pages (single spacing is okay).
  • You must use the official submission form stating “The Steger” with the title, student’s name and ID#, email address, phone number, and address.
  • The title or your student ID# must be on the poem. DO NOT put your name on the poem.
  • Submission deadline: 5:00 p.m., Monday, March 16, 2009.
  • Submit entries to the English Department Main Office, 323 Shanks Hall, c/o Aileen Murphy. Or submit the entry form and poem by email to Aileen (aileen@vt.edu).
  • The competition will be judged by the members of the Steger Committee and their decision is final.
  • Manuscripts will not be returned.
  • Winners will be notified by early April; winners will read their poems at a public event during ArtsFusion, April 21. Winners give permission for their winning poem to be published at the Steger Award website.
